Paul taught
here what I think Jesus would really have us do. Pray continually (1
Thessalonians 5:14-18) and to watch
out for the other guy and pray for his/her needs. Be on the alert—don’t be
focused on your own needs—put others first and keep on watching that you will
be ready to share the gospel and pray for others. That should be the focus of
our lives. Living to reach others...just as is written in Acts 1:6-8… So when they had come together, they were
asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the
kingdom to Israel?" He said to them, "It is not for you to know times
or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive
power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part
of the earth." Just as Jesus
commanded we need to be witnesses—tell our story of how God is working in our
lives. We need to take the gospel out comparatively to our towns and regions...Jerusalem,
would be our local community; Judea, our county; and Samaria, our state…and
then to the whole world. What has God done in your life recently—not ten years
ago, but this week, yesterday, today? Share that with someone…with anyone. By
telling others what God is doing in YOUR life, you are sharing His good news.
Let your light shine.
Training Tip – Brainstorm with your family to discuss the ways that
you all see God working in your life. Then pray and ask God to use your family
to reach others for Him and pray for those in your neighborhood and community
who you know need the Lord or a special touch from Him, either physically or
spiritually.
Lord Jesus, may my children and grandchildren’s
lives be focused on prayfulness, that they may learn to pray in the Spirit on
all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
