November 22 - A Rooster for Thanksgiving?

Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in Him; if God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him immediately. Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, 'Where I am going, you cannot come.' A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered, "Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later." Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow You right now? I will lay down my life for You." Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for Me? Truly, truly, I say to you, a rooster will not crow until you deny Me three times.” John 13:31-38

Another denial of Christ? You’d not expect Peter to be one to deny Jesus—but Jesus predicted that he would and he did. That was before he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Have you ever denied Jesus? Think about it. If you don’t stand up for Jesus or Christian values are you denying Jesus? Jesus made an earlier statement that addressed that, “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:33.

Love God, love one another. Likewise if we love Jesus, love God, then we will love one another—and following Jesus’ teachings…Love our enemies from Luke 6:31-33. "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.” These red letter words of Jesus’ are a good thing to think about—to meditate on this day that we pause to remember our grateful we are for the freedom and prosperity of our nation. So on this Thanksgiving Day, for what are you thankful? What do you love? Who do you love?

Dear Jesus- Thank you for the privilege of living here in the United State, and more importantly thank you for all that You have done for me…and for all of mankind. May more people seek You, live by Your commandments and love one another.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone - Happy Birthday, Barry!
