November 18 – Who is a Gentleman?

"If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day. For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me." John 12:47-50

Jesus is a gentleman. He doesn’t force His ideas or love on anyone. If people don’t want to listen to Him—no biggy. If they do listen, but chose not to keep His commandment or life guidance, then He doesn’t condemn them, or judge them. But it shouldn’t be any surprise to them later that the words themselves will judge them. Everyone will decide their own fate. Each person chooses where they spend eternity—heaven or hell. People just assume that they will go to heaven just because they are kind or have done some good deed, but it is not so. If they don’t choose to believe in Jesus who came to save the world, the default choice is hell. Hmmm—who would choose to go to hell?

Jesus is a gentleman. He is obedient to His Father and speaks just what His Father has told Him to say. He’s honest, true and compassionate. He doesn’t coherence others into following His ideals—those of His Father: Eternal life. What a privilege to live with the Father—forever.

Jesus is a gentleman. He is speaking, Are you listening?

Dear Jesus—help us to be more like you every day. To be kind, honest, true and compassionate. Show us how to share the Way to Eternal Life.
