We Will Receive Whatever We Deserve

Mediate and consider your relationship to Christ Jesus.

For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body. 2 Corinthians 5:10

I said to myself, "In due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds." Ecclesiastes 3:17

OK. Imagine your time has come. You are standing before Christ to be judged. What do you deserve? Deserve?? No matter how much we try…we have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23). Everyone. We all deserve to go to hell.

But as a believer in Christ, I have repented of my sin; it has been washed away by the blood of Jesus. Hallelujah! I am set free. I can see the smile and twinkling eyes of Jesus Christ—He remembers that my sin is gone. He gives me a hug…and tells His Father that I am forgiven. Sinless. I fall on my knees and praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Even now I have tears in my eyes envisioning how this judgment will go. Christ is merciful. Hallelujah!

Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33

How will Judgment go for you?
Will God see you as a pure white lily?
Cleansed and forgiven of your sin?

How will the judgment go for you? What do you deserve? Have you confessed your sin to the Lord and repented of it? Have you called on the name of Jesus as your Savior?

Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. Romans 10:13

Solomon reminded us that God will judge everyone—for all their deeds. No one gets exempted. We all have to stand before the Throne. The time to confess your sin is now…don’t wait. When you stand before the Throne it will be too late. Do you recall hearing the verse where Jesus’ followers claimed to serve Him…but Jesus called them lawbreakers?

Not everyone who calls out to me, 'Lord! Lord!' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, 'Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws.' Matthew 7:21-23

Are you serving the Lord and doing the will of our Father? What do you deserve when you stand before the Lord in judgment?

Prayer ~ Lord God, help me not to judge others because I know You said that we will be judged by the same standard with which we judge others and we will be measured by the same measure that we use (from Matthew 7:1-2). I know I’ve been critical of others over the years—expecting more of them than I do of myself. Forgive me for that. Help me to encourage others to seek You first in their lives—especially now as the time may be growing short.

Verse of Salvation ~ You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13-14
