Do You Believe?

After Jesus left the girl's home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, "Son of David, have mercy on us!" They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, "Do you believe I can make you see?" "Yes, Lord," they told him, "we do." Then he touched their eyes and said, "Because of your faith, it will happen." Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, "Don't tell anyone about this." But instead, they went out and spread his fame all over the region. Matthew 9:27-31

Meditate. Read the text three times. What did Jesus ask?

What did Jesus ask? Do you believe? Don’t tell.

Morning Glory flowers in Israel.
Tell others about Jesus--not just in the morning.
Anytime is Jesus time.

How would you respond to Jesus’ question, Do you believe? Do you think there is ever a time when Jesus would say to you, Don't tell anyone about this? It seems like our mission as Christians today is to tell! How will others hear about Jesus unless we tell them? Jesus’ parting words to His disciples and other followers was to go and make disciples and teach them. Tell them.

Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

These blind men believed—they had faith that Jesus could heal them. Is there something from which you need Jesus to heal you?

What do you learn about Jesus from these verses?

Prayer – Lord, I am listening. I do believe in You—and love You with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Show me who You want me to tell about You—about Your sacrifice for everyone, Your love for us all, and of the faith I have in You. They can have it all, too.

Verses of Salvation ~ As for us, we can't help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation--a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. 2 Thessalonians 2:13-17 (Underlined for emphasis.)
