Do You Have an Advocate?

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. 1 John 2:1-2

Meditate. Consider Jesus being your advocate.

If someone sins? Everyone sins—except Jesus—so sooner or later someone is going to slip up and do something that will separate them from the Father. As humans…we sin. It’s in our nature. We are helpless.

Jesus died on a cross for our sins.
Korean Brass cross.
He loved us enough to die for us.
Whenever someone is helpless, they need an advocate. Someone who sticks up for them, has their back, or just listens and speaks up for their needs. That is just what Jesus does as He stands before the Father with our sins that need to be forgiven. He died on the cross for those very sins…and now He goes before the Father just pleading for the forgiveness of whatever has come between God and us. That is pretty bold and touching. For me…I don’t feel that I am worthy of this action—but through Jesus’ love and faithfulness, He seeks forgiveness for me. He will do the same for anyone who seeks and loves Him. He is faithful to God the Father…and to each of us. His righteousness—His purity—allows Him to speak to the Father.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

What a great promise. Live righteously—God’s way. He will give you everything you need. What more could we ask for in life?

Prayer – Lord Jesus, thank you for being an advocate for me. I could never seek or find righteousness and forgiveness on my own. You are amazing in that Your blood has covered the sins of mankind and You actually stand up for us before our Heavenly Father. I so appreciate Your faithfulness, kindness, gentleness, goodness, love, joy, peace, patience, and of course, self-control. The fruit of the Spirit is so evident in Your life. In addition, You are full of wisdom and are gracious. I praise You.

Verse of Salvation ~ Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:24-25
