You see and recognize what is right but refuse to act on it. You hear with your ears, but you don't really listen. Isaiah 42:20
Meditate.
Read God’s word and really listen to what He is saying.
| Who is like a selfish baby alligator? Life is about me...and I won't listen. |
Jesus
summarized the Ten Commandments into two points: love God, love others. Have
you read those Ten Commandments out loud lately? Things appear more important,
realistic, and obviously true when we see AND hear them. Do you realize that those
directives can be both literal and figurative? For example, do not murder points
out that it is not acceptable to kill other people, of course. It also means
that a person should not “murder” another person’s character by destroying their
integrity. Gossip can do just that. Do you ever gossip, inadvertently reveal a
secret, or portray an unacceptable attitude about a person—even if it seems
true? Is that showing love for that other person? Gotta ya. I’m guilty of that,
too.
Do
you hear yourself…are you listening to yourself? If you are listening to God…really
listening, and comprehending what He says…then you’re going to hear some good
stuff…and you’re going to learn the truth of life. Jesus is the way, the truth,
and the life (John 14:6). He listened intently to His Father…and He obeyed. In
His obedience, He died for our sins. If we accept Jesus and what He did—dying on
the cross for us—then we will have eternal life in Heaven with God, the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit. That is the truth really worth listening to. Are you listening?
Prayer
– Lord Jesus, I hear You. You gave up so much to save mankind. Thank you.
Verse
of Salvation ~ While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings,
with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God
heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was
God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God
qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal
salvation for all those who obey him. Hebrews

What are
you planning for next Thursday’s Thanksgiving dinner? Are you even having a special

with my brother and sister-in-law before they went to spend the winter in a
warmer climate. Snowbirds—fly away when it turns gray—fly away when it turns
cold…that is the beginning of getting old.
