Do You Trust Darkness or Light?

Prayer – Lord Jesus—Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you. Psalm 9:10

Let Jesus light your way.
As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light. I will be patient as the LORD punishes me, for I have sinned against him. But after that, he will take up my case and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies. The LORD will bring me into the light, and I will see his righteousness. Micah 7:7-9

Meditate. Light.

We are getting close to the shortest day of the year…the day with the most darkness. And then the light will come. Are you trusting that light…? Who do you trust?

Trust. You’ve heard it said “Don’t trust anyone.” That is hard to do without being paranoid…shifty eyed…and living in fear. Those who fear God—respect and honor Him—have nothing to fear. Those who fear man, fear everything. The best place to put our trust is in the Lord. Even friends may fail us—turning their backs on us…rejecting or abandoning us—but the Lord has promised to never leave us or forsake us. Trust Him. There may be times when we might feel abandoned or rejected by the Lord…with unanswered prayers, but still, we need to trust Him. There are lots of people who say they don’t believe in God because their prayers go unanswered. Why is that? The power of prayer is a mystery. Keep praying and trusting.

The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. Psalm 37:5

But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people. Psalm 118:8

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

Maybe you even feel that God is punishing you for some action or sin that you know you committed of which God doesn’t approve.

My child, don't reject the LORD's discipline, and don't be upset when he corrects you. For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:11-12

Feel loved…not rejected? That takes an act of faith…and trust. The passage from Micah above give us words of encouragement. The Lord gives us light. Jesus IS the light.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 8:12

Trust Him—to lead you down the right path—to show you the way. It is your choice.
