Prayer
– Lord Jesus, In Your mercy and love, touch the lives of those around the world
involved in abuse. It may seem like a cultural element or habit, but abuse is
disrespectful. There is no love there…and all love comes from You—so please
protect those involved in abuse and intercede for those, especially the
children. May Your love shine through those who love You and touch the lives of
those who need Your love. The Kingdom of God is within us—we don’t need to look
any further…or long for the future. It is here—now. You are with us and within
us.There are no borders to abuse.
Worldwide
Choose to end it.
We
work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse
us. We are patient with those who abuse us. 1 Corinthians 4:12
Meditate.
Take a breath…relax.
Are you
patient with those who disrespect, mistreat, manipulate, coerce, exploit, or
neglect you?
Do you turn the other cheek? The author
of Lamentations, probably Jeremiah, wrote about turning the other cheek. Jesus,
Himself spoke about reacting to someone who strikes you on the face.
Let them turn the other cheek to
those who strike them and accept the insults of their enemies. For no one is
abandoned by the Lord forever. Lamentations
3:30-31
But to you who are willing to
listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those
who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one
cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your
shirt also. Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you,
don't try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you. Luke 6:27-31 (Underlined for
emphasis.)
Abuse is
not acceptable. Physically, mentally, sexually, emotionally, or spiritually. We
are taught to bless those who curse you. Turn the other cheek. Accept the
insults (no reaction or road rage!) Treat others the way you want to be
treated. What a good way to live. Each of us has a choice to make.
Verses
of Salvation ~ The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never
cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say
to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in
him!" The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for
him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD. Lamentations 3:22-26
