Do It For the Lord.

Prayer ~ Lord, whatever I do today…I do it for You.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. But if you do what is wrong, you will be paid back for the wrong you have done. For God has no favorites. Colossians 3:23-25

Meditate. What is work to you?

Prune the roses now for beautiful blooms later.
Work as for the Lord.
We recently had a “workday” at church to trim the rose bushes and trees, and to weed-weed-weed! With so many flower and shrubbery beds, there are a lot of areas to be weeded. A good crew of people of all ages showed up to help out. There are a couple of people who have been trimming the willow trees for ages and they just cut those trees back lickety-split. Everyone willingly worked as if they were working for the Lord Himself. They were. In return, God blessed us with a beautiful day—and we got the churchyard spruced up for another year. That work time turned out to be a good fellowship time for those working closely where they could chat and work. It was good to see seven and seventy year old’s working alongside each other trimming, weeding, and hauling their cuttings to the dumpster—together.

What are you working on now? Whatever you do…work at it as if you were working for the Lord…rather than for people. Whether it is creating computer code, ironing shirts, cooking, baking, creating beautiful quilts, paintings, or simply sweeping the floor. Sometimes serving others for the Lord builds your relationship with Him. Give Him glory as you work. Do it for the Lord.

Verses of Salvation ~ Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. Philippians 2:12-16

[Note: Salvation cannot be earned through work, it is a gift from God. We must repent to be saved—but that is not work. Once saved, we should “work hard” to show the results of our salvation.]

Coins in the Bible: New Testament Stories

No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Matthew 6:24 NLT
