Bread for Your Life?

Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me. However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will. And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day. For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day." John 6:35-40

Bread of Life
Bread of Life. What does that mean? That which feeds life? Bread is representative of food—and is a basic component of many diets around the world. Life is that which is active, energetic, devoted to God and illuminating our existence. This is what Jesus is claiming—providing mankind with spiritual food to bring us into existence in a relationship with God.
In the Lord’s Prayer we ask for bread...give us this day our daily bread. It was explained to me in sixth grade Sunday School class that this bread is spiritual bread…spiritual food. That was a great epiphany moment of my life. Then here Jesus is declaring Himself to be the bread of life. He is the spiritual component of all that we need every day. Think about that. Jesus says to come to Him and never be hungry again. Have you experienced spiritual hunger? Has there been a time when all you wanted to do is spend time reading God’s Word…digging deeper into the Bible for some truth? How about just understanding God’s will? He came to do the will of God who sent Him—not to do His own will. God’s will is… For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day. Dig deep into God’s word and chew on that for a while. Know that as you seek God, you will find Him…and with that you’ll find understanding.
I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me. Proverbs 8:17 NASB
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. Psalm 111:10 NASB
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20 NASB
Are you seeking the Lord God with all your heart and mind? Are you receiving understanding—spiritual insight? Jesus promised that He is the bread of life. Continue to look for Him…for His wisdom and understanding and apply it to your life.

Prayer ~ Dear Jesus, I believe in You. I look forward to being raised up on the last day…and spending eternity with You. Open my eyes and heart to build a relationship with You with even stronger bonds…and may Your love flow in and through me as You give me spiritual insight. I praise You—for You are worthy of praise. Thank You for being my Lord and Savior. Come quickly Jesus.
