Near the head of the Jordan River - in the Promised Land |
Groan. “Stop your moaning and groaning!” Although
it may not have been directed at me, but for my sister or brothers, how many
times did I hear that as a kid? How often did I say that as a parent? Groaning can be so annoying. God wasn’t annoyed
when He heard His chosen family crying out from the land of Egypt. Help us.
Save us. Being the compassionate Father that He is, He heard them and remembered
His covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would get
them out of Egypt and take them to His Promised Land. The land of milk and
honey. Oh, they would love it there. No slavery, brick making or pharaohs
wanting them to kill their baby boys. Yes. The Promised Land would be good for
them. God had promised Abraham and now there was a plan.
Do you have a plan for your life? Does it include God? Do
you worship Him every day…or just on Sundays? Do you groan like the Israelites
when they found themselves captive in Egypt?
Prayer
~ Lord God, my life is easy compared to the Hebrew people in Egypt at the time
of Moses. Forgive me when I groan, but please do hear my groaning and rescue me—like
You rescued Your chosen people. Chosen. Thank You that You are still choosing
people to be in Your family. May those
who read this choose You—to love and obey You. Personally, I look forward to
spending eternity with You in Your Promised Land.
