Touching Jesus

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, “Who touched my clothes?” Mark 5:30 KJV

And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed [them] all. Luke 6:19 KJV

And Jesus said, “Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.” Luke 8:46 KJV

To be touched by Jesus meant healing…so to touch Jesus would be healing also. That must have been how the people in these verses felt. People were seeking healing for their physical ailments. Jesus could feel the energy—translated here as “virtue” go out of Him…and into those that were seeking healing. Today so many are seeking the same thing—healing. When we’ve had healing services at our church the alters are full of people wanting prayer and anointing. Do you seek the same thing? Is it physical healing for a sore back or knee…or spiritual healing for a poor attitude? Reach out to Jesus. He is still the Great Physician.

Training Tip – Tell your children these stories about Jesus healing people when they touched Him…as well as when He touched them. Discuss also that sometimes Jesus doesn’t heal us when we ask—but we just have to continue to trust Him that He hears our prayers and will someday answer them. Sometimes the answer is “No—not now” and we just have to accept that—and endure the pain that we still carry.

Lord Jesus, please give us a healing touch today in our physical and spiritual bodies. Help us to understand when Your answer is “No” or “Not now” that You still hear our prayers and love us.
