Begin a Month of Thankfulness

Prayer – Lord, I am so very grateful for everything You have done for me. Besides being the ultimate sacrifice, Jesus, You have promised to never leave me or forsake me. That is so important to me—to know that You love me enough to die for me and then to always to have my back. I can count on You. Like David, I give You thanks and praise.

Begin Thankfulness at an early age.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
I give you thanks, O LORD, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods. I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. Every king in all the earth will thank you, LORD, for all of them will hear your words. Yes, they will sing about the LORD's ways, for the glory of the LORD is very great. Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud. Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. The LORD will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me. Psalm 138:1-8

Meditate. Consider God’s promises in scripture.

What are you thankful for today?

I am overwhelmed with thankfulness to the Lord. I just look around me and am so very grateful. Love, life, home, spouse, kids, grandkiddos, friends, family, food on the table, clothes on my back, a comfortable bed to sleep in, wisdom, understanding, education, opportunities to share talents and knowledge for which I have been blessed, travel, beautiful scenery, books to read and write, and, yes, troubles. Without some troubles, temptations, trials, defeats, doom and gloom—life would be just too perfect and I probably wouldn’t see the Lord working in my life. But He is here—giving me strength to face each day and to endure the troubles, the anger of enemies, and best of all to pour out His love on me, my family and friends—and to you as you read this. God loves you. He made you uniquely you—with your talents and the ability to face the challenges and troubles that are part of life. God has a plan for each of us. I am counting on His plan to be fulfilled in His promise of faithful love that lasts—endures forever!
