Darkness filled the void—and then in a flash of glory the world was created.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was
formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the
Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2
For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has
appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers
in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your
faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:20-21
It was the Father’s responsibility to glorify His Son—and then
the Son would glorify the Father. Sort of a mutual admiration society.
Glorifying each other. Jesus was aware that He was going to have to die—and here
He is asking the Father to glorify Him, the Son who was the creator of
everything, with the gloriousness that they had before creation. That is a God
thing that is beyond our comprehension. May we give them both the glory—the honor,
respect, reverence, dignity and splendor that they so richly deserve. Who are we---but
mere mortal men and women who want to honor their God, creator of the universe.
Lord, even as darkness
ebbs and flows through this day and into night, may You be glorified—may You
feel the respect, honor and reverence that You so richly deserve—even before
the beginning of time, before the world existed.
