Let the Trees Rustle with Praise

Meditate. And Sing!

Sing a new song to the LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD! Sing to the LORD; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods. The gods of other nations are mere idols, but the LORD made the heavens! Honor and majesty surround him; strength and beauty fill his sanctuary. O nations of the world, recognize the LORD; recognize that the LORD is glorious and strong. Give to the LORD the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his courts. Worship the LORD in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him. Tell all the nations, "The LORD reigns!" The world stands firm and cannot be shaken. He will judge all peoples fairly. Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice! Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest rustle with praise before the LORD, for he is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth. Psalm 96:1-13

Our God is an awesome God—and He deserves all the honor and glory we bestow on Him. This Psalm recognizes His greatness. What else can we possibly say? Then note that He will judge the world—not just Christians—not just the United States…but the whole world. God is a fair God—and we can count on Him to judge all the peoples fairly. He won’t be partial, expecting more from someone than from someone else. He knows each person intimately—although they may have rejected Him. He will still judge everyone. Jesus will be the perfect Judge because He Himself was sinless. If a person has sinned, who are they to condemn another sinner? But as a sinless person, Jesus Christ can judge, evaluate and assess every person who will stand before Him.

As I write this I’m sitting among some trees with a little breeze. They are rustling with praise before the Lord…their Creator. I am singing in my heart, praising His name. Oh, that this breeze would be a forewarning of His coming…His return for His church. But we don’t know the hour or the day of His return—so we wait. Are you ready for His judgment? Have you been faithful to tell others about the Lord so that they won’t be left behind? Is it your goal to take as many people to Heaven with you as possible? Time may be drawing short. Life is unpredictable and we may die or be raptured before we know it. Reach out to the Lord as your Savior—and to others while there is still time.

Prayer ~ Lord God, You are an awesome God…and I am privileged to call You, My God. Praise, glory and honor to You. I confess that I don’t always think, say and do things that would bring You honor—please forgive me. I look forward to the rapture of the church…and to Christ return. What glorious days those will be! Give me boldness to speak to others for You that even one more would believe in Jesus as their Savior today.

Verse of Salvation ~ Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name. Psalm 79:9
